OK I have been asked by a few, I wish it was a lot, of family members about when the family reunion is going to happen? Well I wanted to try for this year but it's coming ang going too fast so I'm shooting for 2013, if the world doesn't end before then? This year there are two major events that I know of happening that family are excited about. First, Adam Martinez the son of Adam and Rosalinda Martinez is getting married this year as well as Rachel Gonzalez and Joe Dennett, Sr., again daughter of Adam and Rosalinda Martinez, are getting married this year as well. BOY!!! Two major events in one year! So that blows this reunion out of the water until next year. I congratulate both cousins and wish them all the happiness in the world. I still wish I had more input and maybe some more participation on the family website. I have been colaborating with Patricia Piedra Garcia also in our family history and ideas on planning the reunion. Most of our family are in Facebook where we can befriend each other and stay in touch. I hope to hear from a new group of family with this new blog. Don't be afraid to call, email or hit me up on Facebook. WE'RE ALL FAMILY!
I recently went to the Chilipitine Cemetery to find more relatives and to my suprise I found a brand new headstone at the graves of Thomas and Jesusa Piedra. I had suggested it a few months ago on the blog about doing a headstone project. I don't know if this person or persons read the post and went ahead and did the project on thier own. I appreciate it and I thank you for doing the honor of buying one. It is a great tribute to the two people who started our family. I hope more will get involved and I hope I know who did the honors. You can see the new the new headstone in the photo gallery.
Just to say a big THANK YOU to Rochelle Piedra daughter of Rosalio Piedra for sending me some wonderful pictures. You may them in the Photo Album. I hope more people would participate so we may get a nice Family history Book together. I guess I'm too excited and not too patient. Hope to hear from you soon!
I had a great idea! I thought of starting a Headstone Project for raising funds to buy a proper headstone for our family patriarchs Thomas and Jesusa Piedra. Maybe clean thier grave and beautify it and maybe honour them in this fashion. Of course we would leave the original headstone crosses as part of thier history. Let me know if this sounds like something you would like to do?
